This information may be freely copied, but may not be sold. *************************************************************************** Watson Westfahl 16 September 1843 Sale Of Land To Samuel McCan From Watson Westfahl & Rachel his Wife This indenture made this 16th day of September in the year One Thousand and Forty Three between Watson Westfahl of the County of Lewis and state of Virginia and Rachel his wife on the one part and Samuel McCan of the other part of the County of Lewis and the state of Virginia witnesseth that the said Watson Westfahl and Rachel his wife for and in the consideration of the sum of seventy dollars, current money of Virginia in hand paid , the receipt thereof is hereby acknowledged, have bargained sold aleined and confirmed and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell, release and confirm to the said Samuel McCan, his heirs, do assign forever all that land or parcel of land situated in the County of Lewis and state of Virginia on the waters of Touse Run and which is a branch of Cutright Run and which is a branch of Buckhannon Run and is bounded as follows: Beginning a a Black Gum, Thomas and Grace Farnworths corner and running thence 160 poles to a Sugar - John Burr's corner thence South 80 poles to ... with his line to a Black Oak, his corner, thence ...with the ...top of the Ridge between Cutright's Run and Touse Run thence the same degree of John Light's ..? to the beginning , containing eighty acres ot the same more or less to have and to hold with all and singular the premises and appurtenances thereof belonging to them for proper use of said him, the said Samuel McCan, his heirs forever whereas the said Watson Westfahl and Rachel his wife and their heirs do hereby bind themselves to warrant and forever defend the above parcel of land free from the claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever laying any lawful claims whereunto on witness whereof the said Watson Westfahl and Rachel his wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year above written.
