She was born March 24, 1934, in Jane Lew, W.V., the daughter of Robert H. Hughes of Prestonsburg, KY, and the late Shirley (Cole) Hughes. She was raised in Prestonsburg and had resided in Maine, Hampton and New Durham, before moving to Lexington in 1997. She attended Transylvania University and nursing school in Boston. Mrs. Lessard and her husband operated restaurants in Gloucester, MA., and in New Durham. She had previously worked for the Girl Scouts of America in Maine. The widow of Edgar "Pat" Lessard, who died in 1997, in addition to her father, she is survived by one son, Robert P. Lessard of Marysville, Wash.; one brother, Henry Hughes of Lexington, KY; two nieces; and a sister-in-law, Brenda Hughes of Hazard, KY. Memorial services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in Whitehall Funeral Chapel, 312 North Limestone St., Lexington, with the Rev. Harold Dorsey officiating.
