(Allen). Enlisted 1942 at Huntington,WV. Bernard was reported missing in action in North Africa in 1943 and declared dead one year later in 1944. He served in North Africa under British General Benard Montgomery. Bernard was the son of General and Lena Hill Spears. A memorial tablet of Missing in Action is located at American Cemetery in Tinis ,Tunisia and a memorial stone located in Spears family cemetery, Union Gap,WV. "Bernard Memorial Road",county road(co7/8)located at Union Gap is named in his honor.
