Unknown Newspaper clipping and Death Certificate
Miner Dies Following Amputation of His Leg
John Beckish, aged 26 years, died at Cook Hospital yesterday, following the
amputation of his leg. The young man had been injured several weeks ago in the
mines of the New England Fuel and Transportation Company at Grant Town, and the
injuries failed to heal properly. As a last resort to save his life, the leg was
amputated. Because of his weakened condition, he was unable to withstand the
shock. His leg had been badly crushed.

The deceased leaves his mother, Mrs. Mary Beckish and two brothers. His father,
Nick Beckish, is dead.

Funeral plans are not completed. R. C. Jones is the funeral director.
