L. E. Resseger died 2 January, 1940 in Glendale Hospital. A resident of 1301 Fourth St., Moundsville. Born in Wetzel County 9 July 1866, the son of Jacob and Samanthia A. (McCullough) Resseger. He attended Red River Valley Seminary in North Dakota and his first church was in Fargo, North Dakota where he stayed 7-1/2 years. He then attended West Virginia Wesleyan College and his first church was at Rock Cave. He was then four years at Sutton and four years at Elkins. He served 19 years as District Supt. which was a record in the West Virginian Conference. He then moved to New Martinsville and served seven years with the First Calvery Methodist Church in Moundsville and several other towns in the state making a total of 49 years in the pulpit. When first starting he often made his rounds on horseback. Rev. Resseger was also a 32-degree Mason, Odd Fellow, and member of the K & P. His first wife, Irene Flody, of Marion County died leaving four children: Floyd G., Martin's Ferry, Ohio; Dr. O. C. of Webster Springs, W.V.; Mrs. Harry L. Green of Bridgeport, W.V.; Mrs. K. L. Cancorn of Parkersburg, W.V. His second wife, Anna B. Miller, he married in Wellsburgh, W.V. 4 June 1934, who survives him.
