From McDowell County, West Virginia Deed Book 2, pages 295 and 296 Original page 350 Moses Muncy To Deed John Atwell This deed made this 15th day of April A.D. 1872 between Moses Muncy and Rachel Muncy his wife of the first part and John Atwell of the other part all of the county of McDowell in the state of West Virginia. Witnesseth: that the said Moses Muncy for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said John Atwell the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged hath this day bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain sell and convey by deed of special warranty unto the said John Atwell a certain tract or parcel of land lying on the ridge that divides the bark camp branch and Jonacake branch waters of the Dry fork containing by survey thirty seven acres be the same more or less being one third part of 111 acres survey made in the name of H. A. Harman and El L. and J.H. Parker said 37 acres is bounded as follows, to wit: BEGINNING at a chestnut standing on top of said divides corner of said 111 acres and corner of a 25 acre survey now owned by said John Atwell, thence N 87 W 60 poles to two Lynns corner of said 25 acres and also 111 acres, thence leaving said 25 acres and with said 111 acres s 20 W 126 poles to two black pines on the south side of a spur about 40 yards from the top thereof, thence s 45 E 80 poles crossing through same 111 acres to a chestnut oak and two chestnuts growing from one root about 20 yards from the top of said divide on the Jonacake side of the said ridge thence to and with the south east line of said 111 acres N 71 E 144 poles to the beginning with all the appurtenance thereunto belonging.
