Joy Lee Miller, 67 of Portsmouth, Ohio died Sunday, September 29, 
2002 at her home in Portsmouth, Ohio.

She was born February 22, 1935 in Northfork, West Virginia, a 
daughter of the late Robert Sheffey and Karlene Elizabeth Shannon 
Sheffey. She was a former sales clerk for Harts Stores, Inc., and 
Chevron owner. She was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church in 
New Boston.

She is survived by her husband Fred of 49 years: son, Martin and 
daughter-in-law Rita of South Webster; sons, Robert, Charles, Jeff,
and Gregory, all of Portsmouth and daughter Louann and son-in-law 
Roger Castle of Portsmouth. 10 grandchildren....Nikki, Michael, 
Eric, Shawn, Aaron, Toni, Amy, stephanie, Courtney, Jamie; and a 
brother, James Sheffey Holloway and his wife Cecilia of Springfield, 
Virginia.

She was also proceeded in death by her son, Michael; 
grandson, Christopher  and one brother, Kenneth Sheffey.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening, October 2, 2002 from 6 to 8 
p.m. with a wake service at 6 p.m. at the D. W. Swick Funeral Home 
in New Boston, with graveside services  at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, 
October 3, 2002, at GreenLawn Cemetery, with Father Peter Gideon 
officiating.Memorial donations can be made to the St. Monica 
Catholic Church.
