Ralph and Joseph were among those captured. As prisoners they were marched days on end to reach the prison camps. The first atomic bomb was dropped on Japan Augusta 6, 1945 which bought about the end of the war. By the grace of God Ralph and Joseph came home and thereafter both became preachers of the Gospel. The march of prisoners got the name "The Batann Death March" because it took place on the Batann Peninsula in the Phillippines.
