Pennington Obits McDowell County, WV submitted by Jerri Pennington" ************************************************** Bluefield Daily Telegraph, Saturday, April 13, 1963 Rachel Pennington Mrs. Rachel Wilma Pennington, 52, postmistress at Powhatan for the past 25 years and secretary of McDowell County Postmasters Association, died Friday morning at her home in Powhatan. The wife of T.V. Pennington, she was a member of Northfork Presbyterian Church and a member of Wyo-Mac Rose and Mums Society. A native of Low Gap, N.C., she was a daughters of Mrs. Cora Lowe of Powhatan and the late Clyde Lowe. Additional survivors are two sons, T.V. Pennington Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz., and Wallace Pennington of Colonial Heights, Va., a daughter. Mary Jane Pennington of Phoenix; four grandchildren; and a brother Worth Lowe of Galax, Va. The body will remain at Bennet Funeral Home in Northfork pending completion of funeral arrangements. ************************************************************* Obit Lonnie M. Pennington December 15, 1971 Lonnie M. Pennington, 73, of Rt. 4, Bluefield, died in a Bluefield hospital Wednesday following a long illness. Born in Ashe County, N.C., he was a son of the late A.B. Pennington and Cellie Haggie Pennington. He had been a resident of Rt. 4 for the past 25 years. He was a retired coal miner and member of UMW Local No. 5997 at Welch. He was also a member and trustee of Bluewell Baptist church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Louise Cheer Pennington; two daughters, Mrs. William (Lucille) Shupe of Madison, N.C., Mrs. Jess (Hazel) Hurley of Rock Ridge, Fla.; two brothers, W.L. Pennington of Bluewell and T.V. Pennington of Powhatan; one half-brother, Gaither Pennington of Northfork; step-mother, Mrs. A.B. Pennington of Northfork; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were incomplete at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell. ************************************************ Trealy V. Pennington Bluefield Daily Telegraph, Monday, February 23, 1981 Trealy Vinton Pennington, 83, of Powhatan, died Sunday morning in a Welch Hospital after a long illness. Born in Ashe County, N.C., he was the sone of the late William Abraham and Celia Jane Hagey Pennington. He was a former miner and office worker for Powhatan Coal Company. He was a former postmaster of Powhatan, where he owned and operated a grocery store until his retirement. He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Powhatan and was retired from the Board of Directors at the First National Bank at Northfork, after 23 years of service. He was preceded in death by six brothers. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Odell Eastep Pennington; two sons, T.V. Pennington, Jr., of San Simon, Fla., and Wallace Lee Pennington of Glendale, Ariz.; one daughter, Mrs. Arnold (NancyJane) Denton of Phoenix, Ariz.; one half-brother, Gaither (Mitch) Pennington of Northfork; one step-daughter, Mrs. William (Viola) Copeland of Black Mountain, N.C.; and 10 grandchildren and several neices. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Bennett-Fanning Funeral Home at Northfork with Rev. Olin Robertson officiating. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum at Bluewell. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. today. Pallbearers will be Oakley Wade, Lawrence Powell, Franklin D.
