C. Christie Court to Samuel H Hager This Deed made this the 14th day of Sept 1880 between R. C. Christie who was at the May Term 1879 of the Circuit Court of Mercer County appointed special commissioner in the Chancery cause pending in the circuit court of said County in the name of James R Reuts Representatives & complainants to James T. Watsons heirs & other respondents whose duty among things is to convey certain portions of the Kent & Watson 80.000 acres survey to the respective purchasers thereof of the first part and Samuel H. Hager of the second part. Whereas Torain Stimson because of a purchase of a certain tract of land out of the Kent & Watson 80.000 acre survey from one of the Commissioners of said court which sale refered (sic) was by a subsequent decree of said court duly confirmed and the purchase money fully paid & discharged by said purchase and said Stinson having since sold to said party of the second part of a certain portion of the above named tract and that said Stinson doth hereby direct that the legal title to said portion be conveyed to said party of the second part. Now therefore this deed witnesseth that in consideration of the premises and pursuant to the authority vested which by a decree of said Court, Said party of the first part hath this day granted and conveyed to the said party of the second part the portion of land above mentioned thereinafter described, said Real estate lying & being in the County of Mercer & state of West Virginia about 5 miles southeast of Princeton adjoining lands of Benjamin Mills estate, D. C. Clendeur & others and containing Fourty acres be the same more or less and bounded & described as follows to wit: Beginning at a red oak & cucumber corner to D. C. Clendeuer’s Survey leaving the same south 30W 60 poles to a chestnut oak & hickory on a birch on a South hill side thence due south to a line of a survey made for James Mills now claimed by Benjamin Mills and with the same due east course to the Indian Grave Clift and with the line of the Clift & round the same a north course to a Cucumber & Red oak on the bank of the Branch corner to D. C. Clendeuer’s Survey thence with the Beach down to a dogwood & hickory on the bank of the Creek at the mouth of the branch, thence up the creek to a white oak & sugar tree, thence crossing the creek at south west course to the Beginning. To Have and to Hold said real estate & premises with all the right title and interest of the heirs of James R Kent & the heirs of James T Watson unto the said party of the second part his heirs now and forever. Witness the following signature and seal the day and year above written. R. C. Christie Special Court State of West Virginia County of Mercer to wit: D. C. McNutt, Notary Public of said County do certify that R. C. Christie Special Commissioner whose name is signed to the writing above bearing date of the 14th day of September 1880 has this day acknowledged the same to be his act given under my hand this the 14th day of September 1880.
