Dare and Elizabeth his wife of the one part and Burwell Winfrey of the other part. Witnesseth that in consideration of two hundred and forty dollars the said Charles A. Dare & Elizabeth his wife do grant unto the said Burwell Winfrey a certain tract or parcel of land supposed to contain acres to be the same more or less lying and being in the County of Mercer on the waters of Skaggs branch waters of Brush Creek adjoining the lands of John H. Bailey & the lands of the said Charles A. Dare being part of the land recently purchased by the said Dau of John B. George & being the same land upon which the said Burwell Winfrey now resides and is bounded as follows: Beginning at 2 white ashes corner to the land sold by John B. George to John H. Bailey above Christian Peter’s field on the Giles & Tazewell County line thence with said county line S35E to within about thirty poles of said C. Peters fence above the residence of said Peters thence across the branch about four poles & thence up the branch to the Pollard line thence across with the Pollard line westwardly to opposite the Beginning corner so as to run square with the said county line to the Pollard line thence to the Beginning and the said Charles A. Dare and Elizabeth his wife do cover and that they will warrant generally the land hereby conveyed. Witness the following signatures & seals. C. A. Law & E Uawter Justices of the peace for the County aforesaid do certify that Charles A Dare and Elizabeth his wife parties to the within deed personally appeared before us in our County aforesaid and acknowledged the said deed and she the said Elizabeth Dare being examined by us privily and apart from her said husband and having the deed aforesaid fully explained she declared the she had willingly executed the same and does not wish to retract it.
