Tazewell County Virginia Deed Book 9 Page 123

      March 1, 1844 Article of Agreement made & entered into the day & year 
above named between Peter Dills of the one part of Tazewell county & State of 
Virginia and Alem Hager Squire Hager & Jacob Hager of the other part all of 
the same City & State above named.  The said Peter Dills doth agree to leas 
(sic) said Hagers a certain parcel of land lying on the North Side of the Rich 
Mountain supposed to contain 30 or 35 acres & bounded as follows to wit:  
beginning at the south east end or next to said mountain of a conditional line 
made between said Dills & Squire Hager & with said line to where it intersects 
with the old Powers line & will said Powers line to the first hollow back said 
hollow to opposite the end of said conditional line & from thence to the 
beginning for the terms of seven years from the date above named and said 
Alem, squire & Jacob Hager doth agree & bind themselves jointly to clear in 
good order fifteen acres or twenty if they choose & make a good sufficient 
fence nine rails high around the same & at the expiration of their time to 
leave the same in good repare (sic).  They also bind themselves not to sell 
rent or dispose of said leas (sic) in any way whatsoever.  For the true 
performance of which on either of our parts I Peter Dills & Alem, squire & 
Jacob Hager doe (sic) bind ourselves heirs & jointly to pay to the non failent 
the sum of One Hundred & fifty dollars.  In witness thereof we have hereunto 
set our hands & seals & acknowledged he same to be our act & deed in the 
presence of these witnesses. Mar 1 1844
