Gregory to Alem Hager & Russell Hager This deed made this 30th day of April in the year 1853 between Lewis C. Gregory & Mary E Gregory his wife of the one part & Alem Hager & Russell Hager of Mercer County of the other part all the other parties of the County of Tazewell & State of Virginia. Witnesseth that in consideration of Eighty five dollars the said Lewis C. Gregory & Mary E his wife doth grant unto the said Alem & Russell Hager a certain Tract or parcel of Land lying on the waters of the Clear Fork of Wolf Creek & bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at a corner of Daniel Gregory & Oliver Wynns on the Buckhorn Mountain thence N45W to the top of said mountain & with the top of the same an Eastwardly direction to Wynn & Rifes corner thence with one of Wynns lines a Southwestwardly course to the Beginning & the said Lewis C. Gregory & Mary E his wife doth covenant and the said Alem & Russell Hager that they will warrant specially the property hereby conveyed. Witness the following signatures & seals the day & year above written. Lewis C. Gregory Mary E. Gregory Virginia: Tazewell County to wit: We Peter H. Dills & Wm E Neel Justices of the Peace for the County aforesaid do certify that Lewis C. Gregory whose name is signed to the writing above bearing date on the 30th day of April 1853 has acknowledged the same before us in our county aforesaid & we further certify that Mary E. Gregory the wife of Lewis C. Gregory whose name are signed to the writing above bearing date on the 30th day of April 1853 personally appeared before us in the County aforesaid & being examined by us privily & apart from her husband & having the writing aforesaid fully explained to her she the said Mary E. Gregory acknowledged the said writing to be her act & declared that she had willingly executed the same & does not wish to retract it. Given under our hands this 30th day of April 1853. P. H.
