        This Indenture made this___ day of ____ in the year of our Lord One
Thousand Eight Hundred and Forty between William Mooney & Asena his wife,
Joshua S. Mooney & Margaret his wife, Cornelius C. Ashworth & Hannah his
wife, Martain D Mooney & Amelia his wife, Joseph Holston & Elizabeth his
 wife, Andrew L Lilly & Sarahann his wife, James Harris & Flory M. his wife,
Floyd Bailey & Zilpha his wife, John Hinton and Jestin A. his wife, of the
counties of Mercer, Monroe, Fayate & Carroll Virginia of the one part and
 John L. Mooney of the other part. Witnesseth that the said parties of the
first part for and in consideration of the sum of thirty-three dollars and
one third lawful money of this Commonwealth the said parties of the first
part in hand paid by the said John L. Mooney at or before the ensealing of
and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
has granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargained
and sold unto the said John L. Mooney his heirs & assigns a cerain tract or
parcel of land lying in the County of Mercer Virginia on Millitons (sic)
Middeltons (ed.)] fork of Bluestone River. It being a part of a tract of
land containing of 500 acres deeded to John Mooney by Richard Bailey
containing of one hundred and thirty nine acres, being the same more or less
and bounded as follows to wit:

Beginning at a white oak by the road S 75 E 64 poles to a Chestnut, Sourwood,
and White Oak on a line of John Shrewsberys and with the same N 188 poles to
a large White Oak and Linn and leave and with a line of Samuel Ashworth W
22 poles to 3 White Oaks on the top of a ridge S 75 W 20 poles to 3 Gums
N 60 W 54 poles to a Chestnut and Chestnut Oak S 84 W12 poles to 2 Chestnut
Oaks N 60 W 26 poles to a Black Oak and White Oak S 77 W 37 poles to a Black
Oak S 26 W 15 poles to a Locust thence with Labons line S 10 E 71 poles to a
White Oak corner of the same, S 40 E 121 poles to 3 White Oaks Corner of the
same and leave N 71 E 60 poles to the beginning. 

        With all and singular the advantages and appetuances (sic) whatsoever
to the said tract or parcel of land belonging or appertaining to, the only
proper use and behalf of him the said John L. Mooney his heirs or assigns
for ever to have and to hold the said tract of land with the Tennements(sic)
__________ all and singular these premises here in before mentioned or
intended to be bargained and sold and every part and parcel thereof with
every of his rights members and appertuances unto the said John L. Mooney
his heirs or assigns forever and the said parties of the first part for
themselves and their heirs the said tract of land with all and singular the
premises, appertuances before mentione unto the said John L. Mooney his
heirs and assigns free from the claim or claimes of them the said William
Mooney and Asenath his wife; Joshua S. Mooney and Marget his wife; Corneluis
C. Ashworth and Hannah his wife; Martain D. Mooney and Amelia his wife;
Joseph Holston and Elizabeth his wife; Andrew L. Lilly and Sarah 
is wife: James Harris and Flora M. his wife; Floyd Bailey and Zilpha his wife
; John Hinton and Adeline J. his wife and heirs of all and every person or
persons what soever shall will and do warrant and forever defend by these
presents in witness where of the said parties of the first part has here
unto set their hands and seals on the day and year above written.
