W. Perdue his wife, Zachariah Perdue and Sally his wife of the one part and Jordan Nelson of the other part, all of the State of Virginia and West Virginia, and of the Counties of Tazewell of Va. and Mercer, West Virginia - Witnesseth that the said parties and heirs, in sonsideration of the Sum of One hundred dollars, to them in hand paid, doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Jordan Nelson all of a certain tract piece, parcel of land lying in the County of Mercer & State of West Virginia, on the Waters of Bluestone River, and bounded as follows to wit, Beginning at the mouth of the Mill Creek, opposite said Nelson's lower Booth land...thence up said Mill Creek to the Mouth of it's first Spring branch above the little Mill above the old Smith House, and up said Branch to the King Perdue line, and with his line, to Elizabeth Thompson's line, and with her line to said Nelson's Booth line thence with said Nelson's Boothe line to the Beginning. Witness the following Signatures and Seals. Eli (his X mark) Perdue (seal) Mary A. W. (her X mark) Perdue (seal) Zachariah (his X mark) Perdue (seal) Sally (her X mark) Perdue (seal) The life time interest of this old home tract is reserved for the benefit of said Zachariah Perdue. Teste Jordan Nelson W. C. Honaker West Virginia, Mercer County to wit: I William C. Honaker a Justice of Said County do certify that Eli Perdue and Zachariah Perdue parties to the within and personally appeared before me in my County and acknowledged this within deed to be their act and deed. Given under my hand this the 11th day of October 1870. Wm. C. Honaker J. P. West Virginia, Mercer County to wit: I William C. Honaker a Justice of said County do certify that Mary Perdue and Sally Perdue whose names are signed to the within deed personally appeared before me and after being examined before me privately and apart from their husbands declared that they had willingly signed the same and acknowledged the within to be their act and deed and did not wish to --- it - Given under my hand the 11th day of October 1870. Wm. C. Honaker J. P. West Virginia, In the Recorders Office of Mercer County Dec. 7, 1870. A Deed of Bargain & Sale from Eli Perdie, Zachariah Perdue & others to Jordan Nelson conveying land, with the certificate of acknowledgement and privy examination before a Justice of same County was this day presented in this office and ordered to be recorded. Test J. H. Alvis R. M. C. Additional Comments: Zachariah Perdue was born in Virginia ca 1771 to Meshack Perdue & (unknown first wife?). Zachariah was married twice, first to Elizabeth Coon 24 Oct 1803 in Franklin Co., VA. They were the parents of Eli Perdue who married Mary A. W. Mitchell in Franklin Co., VA 15 Feb 1848. Zachariah married second to Sally Wolf (date?). Eli Perdue committed suicide in Franklin Co., VA 5 June 1871.
