SIR: I hereby make application for such share as may be due me of the fund appropriated by the Act of Congress approved June 30, 1906, in accordance with the decrees of the Court of Claims of May 18, 1905, and May 28, 1906, in favor of the Eastern Cherokees. Harman, who, being duly sworn, on oath depose and say that they are well acquainted with George Washington Reed who makes the foregoing application and statements, and have known him for 30 years and 18 years respectively, and know him to be the identical person he represents himself to be, and that the statements made by him are true, to the best of their knowledge and belief, and they have no interest whatever in his claim. Va Sir: Relative to your application for participation in the fund arising from the judgment of the Court of Claims in favor of the Eastern Cherokee, state where you resided in 1882, and why you were not enrolled at that time. Why was the parent through whom you claim not enrolled in 1851, and where was he or she residing in 1834-35, if living at that time? Where were your grandparents on the side through which you claim residing in 1834-35. If you were a slave, please state whether a slave of Indians or white people. Apr 8 1908 no. 31874 Guion Miller Dear sir, I will answer your letter which I read April the 5 in regard to my claim I resided in W Va in 1882. The reason I was not enrolled was because there was no enrollment in West Va the reason my father was not enrolled was because there was no enrollment in W. Va My parents was living in W. Va in 1834 & 1835. My grandparents was residing in Floyd Co. Va in 1834 5 35 if living at that time. I was no slave. My father raised me Yours Very Truly Geo. W. You sed in our last letter that I would be notified to appear before one of your assistants but I have not yet been notified. Geo. W. Va Dear sir I will write for you again in regard to my claim if you think there [?] is any chance for me to gain any thing, you please let me no and when do you think I will be notifyed to meet one of your assistant commissioners. This was entirely beyond the Cherokee domain in 1835.
