Shannon, John Richard., Pvt. French's Mercer Co. Battery, Co. B, 30th 
Battal. Va. Sharpshooters, Co. B, listed on the 1860 Mercer Co. Census, age 
25, captured at Fort Donelson, TN. on 2/26/1862, later exchanged.

Shannon, Samuel Douglas., Pvt.- 60th Virginia Infantry, Co. H, captured at 
Piedmont, Va. on 6/5/1864 and sent to Camp Morton as POW. Buried along 
Pigeon Creek Road on the Hales Gap side of 
tje Horner Farm in Mercer Co.
