Mercer Co WV Archives - Obituary --- Mrs. Lucy Combs McKinney, 1956 Bluefield Daily Telegraph, Sun., Sep. 9, 1956 Mrs. Lucy Combs McKinney, 82, of 1104 College Avenue, Bluefield, died at 6 a.m. yesterday in St. Luke's Hospital, following a lingering illness. Mrs. McKinney was one of Bluefield's pioneer residents. She was born July 1, 1874, at Cotton Hill, Va., the daughter of Friel and Millie Combs. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Billie M. Riley, a grandson, Arthur Gene Riley, and a great grandson, Arthur Gene Riley, Jr., all of Bluefield; twin brothers, Albert and Elbert Combs of Princeton. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur B. McKinney, in 1930, and by her parents and one brother, the REv. W. C. Combs, of Cincinnati, Ohio. Mrs. McKinney was a member of the First Baptist Church, and was very active in church work until her failing health. The Rev. Cecil V. Cook Jr., pastor of the first Baptist Church, will be in charge of funeral services tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Hawkins Funeral Chapel, Interment in Monte Vista. Pallbearers will be Ray Henderson, Frank Forbes, Edgar Dillow, Bruce Riley, Dominick Buzzo and Earl Walk.
