Samuel J. Hager, 77, who died Thursday at his home at Red Ash, Va., will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Richlands Tabernacle, of which he was a member. The Rev. Grat Horton and the Rev. Tom Henson will officiate and burial will follow in Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery at Richlands Va. Born in Princeton, Hager was a son of the late Sam and Rebecca Winfry Hager. His first wife, Mrs. Della Crotty Hager, died in 1955. Survivors include his second wife, Mrs. Jane Mooney Hager; three sons, Wallace and Ralph Hager of Bluefield, Wannace Hager of Bristol Va., five daughters, Mrs. Howard Fretz of Ontario, Canada, Mrs. Don Neely and Mrs. Charlie Arwood of Barbeton, Ohio, Mrs. Howard Brown of Bluefield, Mrs. Vonder Huff of Castlewood, Va., 30 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Two brothers, E. C. Hager of Glenwood Park and Henry Hager of Sandlick; three sisters, Mrs. Faye Kahle of Sandlick, Mrs. John Harmon and Mrs. Everett Hambrick of New Hope, also survive. Pallbearers will be Leonard Short, Andy Short, Carl Ball, Damion Ball, Lawrence Ball, Marvin Ball, charles Sawyers and Ray Abshire. Women of the church will carry flowers.
