   Joseph McKinney, father of Mrs. Beulah Kirby, this city, died at the home 
of his son, Joseph P. McKinney at Matoaka yesterday afternoon at 2:30, after
an illness of two months of cancer of the lung.  Mr. McKinney was born and 
reared in this county. He was a farmer.
   Funeral services will be hald at the Matoaka M. E. Church Wednesday 
afternoon at 2 o'clock. S. M. Roberts and the Rev. J. M. Moore of Spanishburg
will be in charge.
   Surviving are five children, John P. and Dennis McKinney, both of Matoaka,
Dewey McKinney of Bishop, Mrs. Laura Deskins of Tazewell, Va. and Mrs. Kirby.
