Mercer Co WV Archives - Obituary --- Mrs. Mary Effie McKinney, 1981 Contributed July 17, 2008 for use in USGenWeb Archives By: Fred Spradlin, fspradlin@earthlink.net Bluefield Daily Telegraph, Thur., Mar 19, 1981 Mrs Mary Effie McKinney, 81, of 400 Harrison St., Princeton, died Tuesday in a Butler, Pa., hospital after a long illness. Born in Wyoming County, she was the daughter of the late James Edward and Amanda Lusk Shrewsbury. She had been a resident of Princeton for the past 50 years and was a member of the Lilly Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, whe was preceded in death by two sisters, Lula McKinney and Rosa Ford; and two brothers, Burl Shrewsbury and Preston Shrewsbury. Survivors include one son, Warren McKinney of Princeton, six daughters, Mrs. Calvin (Ruby) Stone of Hopewell, Va., Mrs. George (Lillian) Sahley of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Bill (Geneva) Keatley of Butler, Mrs. E. Dale (Joyce) Wicks of Titusville, Fla., and Mrs. J. H. (Hester) Porterfield and Mrs. W. R. (Louise) Hedrick, both of Princeton; two sisters, Mrs. Sherman (Lessie) McKinney of Coval and Mrs. Frank (Hazel) Reed of Salem, Va.; and 14 grand- children and 31 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Burns-Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory, Athens Road in Princeton, with Rev. Dan Wilkerson officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the Bluefield-Princeton Road. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Women of the Lilly Grove Baptist Church and the First Christian Church will serve as flowerbearers.
