Obituary of Clarence Edward Shannon, 1969 - Mercer Co. WV Bluefield Daily Telegraph September 5, 1969 Clarence Edward Shannon, 75 of Princeton died September 4, 1969 in the Bluefield Santirum Hospital after a short illness. He made his home with his Daughter and son-inlaw, Shelby Jean and Harold Blevins of Princeton. He was born in Oakvale February 17, 1894, the Son of the late Charles Wesley Shannon and Florilla Beau Cole Shannon. He was of the Baptist faith. He was retired from Eastern Associated Coal Corp. having worked in Keystone #1 mine. He was preceded in death by one Daughter, Mrs. Robert Winton (Karleen) Sheffey, one Grandson, Kenneth Edward Sheffey and two Brothers, William and Samuel Douglas Shannon. Survivors include two Daughters, Eva Fay Shannon of Augusta, Ga., Shelby Jean Blevins and Husband Harold J. Blevins of Princeton, W.Va., three Sons, David Shannon and wife Dorothy of Princeton, W.va., Grant Ray Shannon and wife Nancy of Lynchburg, Va., Robert Lee Shannon and wife Betty of North Augusta, S.C., one Sister Mrs Ada Davis and Husband James of Portsmouth, Ohio. Ten Grand children and seven Great Grandchildren. Services will be conducted Sunday, 2PM at Bennett Funeral Home Chapel in Northfork, W.Va. by Rev. Jakie Clark. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Bluewell, W.Va.
