Grant Varner Cemetery
Monongalia Co., WV

Directions:  Located off Rt  218S, 3.6 miles from the intersection of Rt. 7 and Rt. 218S 
at Blacksville. It is on the hillside near the airport that Frank Chisler had at one time.  
Exact spot unknown to me.

Varner, Ulysses Grant* -  April 26, 1870 ~ December 30, 1931



There is no stone for Grant Varner at his burial site.  I found the record of his birth at the courthouse.
And found a date of death in the fiduciary records at the courthouse.  He was the son of William M.
and Catherine Tennant Varner.  He was married August 3, 1916 to Minnie F. Tennant, who is buried in
 the St. Luke Cemetery.  

One source says that Grant's last wish was to be buried here in his wheat field, because that is where he
was the happiest.
