Lancaster Cemetery
Monongalia Co., WV


Directions:  Located off Rt. 25, Days Run Road. From the intersection 
of Rt. 7 and Rt. 25 at Pentress, go .1 mile to Indian Meadow's Campground.  
The cemetery is located on the bluff, in a grove of trees.

Minor, Rebecca -  d/o Samuel and Permelia Minor,  died July 7, 1839,   17 year, 7 month and 26 days
M.M.* - Footstone   (Michael Moore)

Also said to be here are:
Tennant, Jacob A.* -  1792 ~ November 7, 1874
Tennant, Elizabeth* -  w/o Jacob A.,  January 16, 1796 ~ March 14, 1854

A few years ago, a stone was found here with the name of:
Moore, Michael -  ca. 1770 ~  before 1850

NOTE:	When I came to the Lancaster Cemetery, all I found was a stone for Rebecca Minor and a
	footstone with M.M.  A few weeks ago I received an email from a woman who had been to
	this cemetery around 1965.  She said that her brother was with her, and when he picked
        up a stone, it said Michael Moore.  He dropped it and left - as that was his name - Michael Moore.
	So, I'm sure that the footstone I found is Michael Moore's.  She also said that at that time, there were
	about 7 stones lying beneath the dirt and leaves.  They are gone now.
	According to Memories by Ross Tennant, Jacob Aaron Tennant is here, also.  He was the son of
	Richard and Elizabeth Haught Tennant. He died of old age.   His wife, Elizabeth, who died of
	consumption, was the daughter of William F. and Elizabeth Lancaster.  The Lancasters  are possibly here 
	also, as there are more unmarked graves.
