Patterson II (or Mayfield) Cemetery 
Monongalia Co., WV


Directions:  Located off Rt. 29 at Jakes Run.  It is 5.6 miles from the intersection of 
Rt. 7 and Rt. 29 at Pentress. Turn left from Rt. 29 onto a dirt road and go 1.2 miles, 
(past the Eddy Chapel Cemetery),turn left, go .2  miles to a lane on the right.  
About .2 of a mile to the cemetery on the right. There are no stones there and no pines.
All that was left of the cemetery when I was there September 3, 1992 was 4 fence posts.  
Arlie Wright, Wilma Yost and John Lewis Patterson’s grand daughter, Beverly, confirmed 
that these people are here.

Patterson, John Lewis* -  January 15, 1875 ~ October 15, 1940
Patterson, Martha Leah* - w/o John Lewis, died May 8, 1956,  71 year
Patterson, Infant* -  child of Albert L. and Mildred Tennant  Patterson, died August 28, 1938

			
NOTE:	John Lewis Patterson was the son of William Lewis and Barbara Ammons Patterson.  He died of
congestive heart failure.    His wife, Martha Leah, was the daughter of Minnie Higgins.  She died  of
broncho-pneumonia.  Her father was unknown.  The infant was the grandchild of John and Martha.
Albert and Mildred lost 4 children.  More of them may be here.  According to their daughter, Beverly,
they moved around a lot and she didn’t know where they were all buried.
