It is 4 miles from the intersection of Rt. 7 and Rt. 29. It is on the right, at the top of the hill, marked by a white cross. A Memorial and State Historical Marker honoring Richard Tennant and his family as early settlers of the area is close to the road nearby. Tennant, Richard - 1744 ~ December 1822 Tennant, Elizabeth - 1748 ~ 1830 Tennant, Richard Jr. - 1777 ~ June 27, 1824 Tennant, Sarah - August 19, 1785 ~ September 20, 1865 Tennant, Abraham I. - died December 19, 1875, 90 year Tennant, Frances - ca. 1799 ~ 1850's NOTE: Elizabeth, wife of Richard, was the daughter of Peter Haught. Sarah, wife of Richard Jr., was the daughter of Richard and Rachel Chew. Frances Minor was the wife of Abraham, who was the son of Richard and Elizabeth Tennant. There are many more graves here, but the only one to have a marker with writing on it is Richard Jr. The original stone is still there, and also another stone with his name and dates was put here in the 1900's. "Memories" by Ross Tennant have these people listed as being buried here. He also states that Stephen Archer,(a friend of Richard Tennants) may be here. Wiley's History of Monongalia County, says that he was buried somewhere on Jakes Run by the Soldiers of 1812. Several of Richard Tennant's sons served in the War of 1812.
