Tennant Cemetery III Monongalia Co., WV Directions: This cemetery is located on the same hill as the Alpheus Tennant Cemetery. It is below it, on the side of the hill, toward the house located there. At one time, a tree shaded the final resting place of these little ones. But now, the only thing to mark the cemetery are the broken and toppled stones. ************************************************************************** File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Bonnie Wilson [barn@westco.net] February 15, 2006 *************************************************************************** To contribute additional information and/or photographs, please Contact WV Tombstone Transcription Project Manager Teresa Searcey-Casiano at tlcasiano@gmail.com * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Tennant, Adam N.* - died October 1, 1863, 5 year, 6 month and 17 days Tennant, Infant Daughter *- born and died May 7, 1866 Tennant, Infant Son* - April 15, 1855 ~ May 1, 1855 Tennant, Plesa J.* - died February 13, 1852, 5 year, 8 month and 14 days Tennant, Reason, W*. - July 8, 1867 ~ April 13, 1868 Note: Adam N. Tennant was the son of Emrod and Anna B. Tennant, and died of diphtheria. His birth record at the courthouse gives his birth as September 30, 1858. Infant daughter Tennant was the daughter of Marion and Martha A. Tennant. She was born dead, the twin of Amy J. Tennant. Infant son Tennant was the son of Emrod and Anna B. Tennant. Plesa J. Tennant was the daughter of Emrod and Anna B. Tennant. Reason W. Tennant was the son of Marion and Martha A. Tennant. He died of whooping cough. Two other daughters of Emrod and Anna B. Tennant died. One was: Mary A., who was born October 25, 1868 and died October 1, 1869. She died of scarlet fever. The other was born February 25, 1860 and is gone before the 1860 census was taken. No record of her death. These two children would account for two more broken stones in the cemetery. There is one other broken stone, and since Emrod and Anna B. Tennant had 15 children, and I can only account for 14, I'm assuming that the remaining stone is for this child. *************************************************************************** USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organization or persons.
