Patrick Henry Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia To all whom these
presents shall come Greeting Know ye that by Virtue of a Certificate in Right of
Settlement given by the Commissioners for adjusting the Titles to unpatented
Lands in the District of Monongalia Yohogania & Ohio and in Consideration of the
Ancient Compensation of one pound ten shillings sterling paid by George Hiley
into the Treasury of this Commonwealth there is Granted by the said Commonwealth
unto the said George Hiley a Certain Tract or parcel of Land containing two
hundred and seventy three acres by survey bearing date the the Twenty fifth day
of May one thousand seven hundred and Eighty four lying and being in the County
of Monongalia on Dunkers Creek Including his Settlement given made in the year
on Thousand seven hundred and seventy and bounded as followeth to Wit Beginning
at a white oak in Pennsylvania line and running thence forth one degree west
twenty two poles to Dunkers Creek thence up the said creek with the meanders
thereof five hundred and twenty four Poles to a white oak thence North twelve
Degrees East Twenty five Poles to a white oak North Twenty Nine degrees West one
hundred and Twenty fifty four [sic] Poles Crossing a run to a white oak in
Pennsylvania line East two hundred and sixty nine poles to along the said line
to the Beginning with its Appurtenances to have and to hold the said Tract or
parcel of Land With its Appurtenances to the said George Hiley and his Heirs for
Ever In Witness whereof the said Patrick Henry Esquire Governor of the
Commonwealth of Virginia hath hereunto Set his Hand and Caused the Lesser Seal
of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond on the thirty first day of
October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty five and
of the Commonwealth the Tenth
