+++++++In the name of God Amen, I John Grub of Monongalia County and State
of Virginia am very weak and low but of sound mind and judgement do ordain
this my last will and Testament. Item first I give and bequeath my body to
the ground to be buried in decent manner at the discretion of my executors
who shall hereafter be nominated.  Item 2d - I give and bequeath to my son
John Grub one bay stud coalt two years old last spring to be his just and
right property, also twenty two beds of corn for the purpose of wintering
the aforesaid Colt the rest of my personal property my will is should be
sold and an equal distribution made amongst the rest of my children (after
all my debts are paid) as they shall become of age namely my son James
Grub, Amus Grub, Mary Grub, Martha Grub, Enoch Grub, and George Grub.  My
will and desire is that the plantation I now live on shall be rented out
until my two youngest sons shall be old enough to put to trade and the
money arrising there from to be applied to the raising and support of them
namely Enoch Grub and George Grub my request also is that James Grub and
Amus Grub shall also be put out to trades as soon as convenient as they are
both old enough at this time.            As there is a small
misunderstanding above it is necessary to rectify it here my will is that
my son John Grub shall have an equal portion of my personal estate (after
my debts are paid) with the rest of my children exclusive  of the stud colt
mentioned.  It is to be understood that I have sold a small piece of land
to John Powell for the sum of one hundred dollars of which sum I have
received fifty nine dollars and ninety five and a quarter cents and as I
have never made a deed for said land, my will is that my executor shall
make said Powell a general warrantee deed for the same, all the Land that I
hold on the East side of a line run by James C. Watson.  Beginning at
Richard W. Smiths line formerly owned by Simon Riggs near to a large white
oak by the old road and running across Northwardly to Amos Bunners line and
that said Watson is to run the land write the deed and said Powell is to
pay said Watson out of the money yet due me for said Land, the balance of
the money arrising there from to be equally divided amongst my children as
they shall become of age and further my will is that one half the balance
of my land I leave to my son John Grub and in case, he shall pay fifty
dollars to each of his brothers Namely James Grub Amus Grub Enoch Grub and
Samuel Grub as they shall become of age that he my son John shall have the
other half also but in case he the said John does not pay to each of his
brothers fifty dollars as before mentioned my will is that the other half
of the land shall be sold and an equal distribution made of the money
amongst my four other sons.  Whereas there was a small legacy left my wife
by her father John Bunner Sen'r which will likely take place in time Namely
part of a negro woman at the death of my mother in law Martha Bunner which
property so left to my wife I leave to my daughter Mary which is to come
out of my personal estate before the sale lastly I nominate and appoint
James Morgan executor of this my last will and testament as witness my hand
and seal this 16th day of December one thousand eight hundred and sixteen.

At a court held for Monongalia County January Term 1817 This last will and
Testament of John Grubb deceased was produced in court proven by oath of
James G. Watson, James S. Ferrell and John Bunner witnesses thereto and
ordered to be recorded.
