Distribution of property: Item 1: Testator desires that his wife, Barbara, shall have all the property she brought with her at the time of their marriage that may remain in testator’s possession, also 1 coverlid, 1 hatchet, coffee mill, tea kettle, 3 plates, 6 tea cups and saucers, 5 teaspoons, bread basket, tea cannister, old pot, small kettle, oven, 2 chairs, washing tub, fat tub, bucket, reel, churn, cow & 1 sheep during her natural life and after her decease I give the same to one of my children hereinafter named. Item 2: Testator bequeaths to William Knight (son) a geography, life of Wesley, Vol. of Fletcher’s works, to him, his heirs forever. Item 3: Testator bequeaths to Thomas Knight (son) 50 acres of land, the same land that was conveyed by deed, by Thomas Wilson, the young man’s best companion, the Golden Treasury, 2 sheep & 1 spider to him & his heirs forever. Item 4: Testator bequeaths to Seth Knight, (son) all land on Paw Paw Creek, land that testator now lives on, about 64 acres, to him & his heirs forever; also to Seth (son), hand mill, framing tools, carpenter tools, slate, looking glass, large kettle, horse and saddle, cupboard & still yards, on condition that said Seth buries testator decently in Prickets graveyard at side of former wife. Item 5: Testator bequeaths to Elizabeth Thorn (dau.), his Bible, hymn book, prayer book, table, desk, bed & bedding & cow, also, all the property that is to remain in said wife’s hand, as long as wife lives. Item 6: As to the balance of his estate, testator bequeaths to Seth Knight, (son) on condition that Seth gives to Barbary (wife) annually, 15 bushels of corn and 5 bushels of wheat, use of meadow, part of orchard for apples & cider, for family use during her natural life. Witnesses: David Musgrave, Charles Conoway and Jeremiah Snodgrass. At a court in Monongalia County during the February term 1830, the foregoing will and testament of Thomas Knight was produced and proven by oath of David Musgrave and Jeremiah Snodgrass, witnesses, and ordered to be recorded.
