The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net ************************************************************************ Deed Book 1799-1805, Page 18-19 This Indenture made the twentieth day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine between the said John Hutchison and Rebecca of the County of Monroe and State of Virginia of the one part, and Samuel Peck of the of the County and State aforesaid of the other part, witnesseth that the said John Hutchison and Rebecca his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar, lawful money, to them in hand paid, by him the said Samuel Peck, the receipt whereof, they do hereby acknowledge, doth bargained and sold and do by their presents, bargain, sell and confirm, to the said Samuel Pack, and his heirs and assigns forever, a certain tract, or parcel of land containing 50 acres by survey bearing date the ninth day of February one thousand seven hundred and ninety one, lying and being in the County of Monroe (formerly Greenbrier) on the waters of Brush Creek joining the said John Hutchison's own land and the land of Henry Ba(?) and is bounded and follows, to wit, Beginning at a black and white oak, corner to his own survey, and with the same South 60 degrees, West 120 poles to a black oak, white oak and hickory on Joshua's Ridge, corner to same and bank and with the latter, North 36 degrees, West 74 poles to a Spanish oak and white oak on said line, and leaving the same, North 45 degrees, East 55 poles to three large white oaks and East 94 poles to two oak oaks, thence 34 degrees, East 38 poles to the Beginning, with all its appurtenances. To have and to hold the said 50 acres with its appurtenances unto the said Samuel Pack, his heirs and assigns forever, and the said John Hutchison and Rebecca his wife, unto the said Samuel Peck and his heirs the said tract of land doth for themselves and their heirs, covenant and agree, that the said tract of land unto the said Samuel Pack and his heirs, against the claim or claims of all person or persons, whatsoever, will forever warrant and defend, in witness whereof, the said John Hutchison and Rebecca his wife, hath hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first above written. At a court held for Monroe County at the house of James Alexander, Esq. on Tuesday the twentieth day of August, 1799. This Deed of Bargain and Sale from John Hutchison and Rebecca his wife, to Samuel Pack was acknowledged, she the said Rebecca, being first privately examined as the law directs, and ordered to be recorded.
