The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net ************************************************************************ Deed Book 1799-1805, Page 17-18 This Indenture made the twentieth day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine between the said John Hutchison and Rebecca of the County of Monroe and State of Virginia of the one part, and Samuel Peck of the of the County and State aforesaid of the other part, witnesseth that the said John Hutchison and Rebecca his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar, lawful money, to them in hand paid, by him the said Samuel Peck, the receipt whereof, they do hereby acknowledge, doth bargained and sold and do by their presents, bargain, sell and confirm, to the said Samuel Pack, and his heirs and assigns forever, a certain tract, or parcel of land containing 400 acres by survey bearing date the sixth day of June one thousand seven hundred and eighty five, and granted to him by Letters Pattent, the fourth day of August one thousand seven hundred and eighty eight, lying and being in the County of Monroe (formerly Greenbrier) on Brush Creek, a Branch of New River, adjoining the lands of Andrew Wilson and is bounded and followeth (to wit), Beginning at two gums and red oak, corner to Wilson and with the same North 12 degrees, West 105 poles to three white oaks, North 5 degrees, West 182 poles to a black, white oak and hickory on Joshua's Ridge, corner to said Wilson and leaving the same, North 60 degrees, East 120 poles to a black and two white oaks, on said Ridge, thence South 35 degrees, East 34 poles to two white oaks, South 55 degrees, East 162 poles to two white oaks, South 23 degrees, East 64 poles to a hickory and two white oaks, South 10 degrees, West 140 poles to two white oaks and dogwood, South 86 degrees, West 190 poles to the Beginning, with all its appurtenances. To have and to hold the said 400 acres with its appurtenances, to the said Samuel Pack, his heirs and assigns forever, and the said John Hutchison and Rebecca his wife, the tract of land unto the said Samuel Pack and his heirs, both for themselves and their heirs, covenant and agree, that the said tract of land unto the said Samuel Pack and his heirs, against the claim or claims of all person or persons, whatsoever, will forever warrant and defend, in witness whereof, the said John Hutchison and Rebecca his wife, hath hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first above written.
