Obituary of William Neal, 1903 - Monroe Co. WV From the Monroe Watchman 1903 Gap Mills Correspondence. Mr. William Neal died at his home near this place on Jan. 25,1903, aged 83 years, 2 months, and 5 days. Mr. Neal was born near Zenith, this county, but had resided the most of his life at Gap Mills. Many years ago he married Miss Mary Neel who departed this life in the year 1901. Their eldest son, John L. Neel, died in the service of the Confederate States. Two sons, Messrs, J. H. and H. N. Neal, and one daughter, Mrs. Clarence N. Shires, survive them. The funeral services were conducted in the Presbyterian church by Rev. W. C. Flournow. Mr. Neel had been a member of the Presbyterian Church about twenty-five years. He has always borne an excellent reputation as a useful, industrious and law abiding citizen. All that speak of him will speak in terms of praise. Submitted by W.
