Obituary of Mary F. Neal, 1901 - Monroe Co. WV Death of Mrs. Wm. Neal-Personals &c. Gap Mills Correspondence. Mrs. Mary F. Neal, wife of Mr. William Neal, died of cancer at her home near Gap Mills, W. Va., on Friday, July 12, 1901, aged 76 years and 5 months. Her remains were interred at Gap Mills cemetery. The burial services was conducted by rev. Wm. Parker, of red Sulphur Springs. Mrs. Neel was the daughter of John Neel, Esq., who departed this life many years ago. She was born at Gap Mills and resided in that vicinity all her life. In 1844 she was married to Mr. William Neal, who at the age of 81 years, survives her. Their eldest son, John Lewis Neel, died in the Civil war in the Confederate service. She is survived by her Messrs. James H. And Hamilton N. Neal of Gap Mills, and one daughter, Mrs. Clarence N. Shires of Zenith. Mrs. Neal united with the Presbyterian Church in the days of her girlhood and remained a faithful member throughout the many years of her life that followed. She suffered intensely for many months before her death, but bore her suffering with wonderful patience. She was held in high esteem by all the people of the community.
