Persinger, 93, of Union, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Princeton Community Hospital following a long illness. Born May 3, 1909 at Grundy, VA, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Hannah Matney Wise. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford P. Persinger, on October 4, 1986; four children; one grandson; one granddaughter; three sisters; and three brothers. Survivors include one son, Billy Persinger and his wife, Ruth, of Saginaw, MI; two daughters, Gloria Krick and her husband, Nelson, of Loganville, GA; Carol Pettrey and her husband, John, of Live Oak, FL; sister, Elizabeth Wise of Denver, CO; 18 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Broyles-McGuire Funeral Home, Union, with the Rev. Bob Ratliff officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Union. Friends may call today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. PERSINGER Ernest P. Persinger, age 70, died Monday, February 18, 2002 at home. Retired from North American Rockwell. Preceded in death by father Clifford and sister Hazel. Survived by mother, Rosa; daughters, Marsha (William) Day and Sharon Persinger; son, Thomas (Gracie); brother, Bill (Ruth); sisters, Gloria (Nelson) Krick and Carol (John) Pettrey; grandchildren, Larry and Jeremy Blaine, William Day II, Tommy Persinger; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
