Transcription of Marriage Bond of Thomas Lowry and Frances Linton

Know all men by these presents that We Thomas Lowry and William Smith are 
held and firmly bound unto John Page Governor of the Common(wealth) of 
Virginia and his successors in the Sum of a hundred and fifty Dollars 
with Conn--- that there is no legal Cause to obstruct a Marriage Intended
to be Solemnized between the said Thomas Lowry and Francis Linton of this
County and Then the above obligation to be Void Otherwise to bound and 
Remain in full Force and Virtue setting our hands and Seals this 29th 
day of December 1803.

Monroe County to wit; personally appeared Frances Linton before the subscriber 
one of the Commonwealth justice for the County aforesaid and made oath that 
from the inform[ation] of her parents as well as from a family register that 
she believes her age to be upwards of twenty one years.
     Given under my hand this 21st of dec 1803.

     Personally appeared Jean McAllister of lawful age before the subscriber of
the Commonwealth justice for the [_____] county and made oath that in a
Book of William Linton, she saw a register of the family she belives (_____)
by William from which register it appeared that Francis Linton was twenty 
one years old the 8th of March last.  Given under my hand this 21st of 
dec. 1803.
