Will of James Marshall Keenan, 1862 - Monroe Co. WV In the name of God, Amen. I James M. Keenan knowing certain of death and shortings of life do make this my last will and testament never having made any other that is to say. First, I commend my soul to God and my lord who gave it and my body to mother earth to be buried in a plain and decent manner and my funeral expenses paid out of my estate. Second, I desire and bequeath my son William W. Keenan all the real estate in the lands I now live on with all the site and title to the same and the said William W. Keenan pay to each of my daughters as they become of lawful age fifty dollars. Third, I give and bequeath to William my son the functional (or financial) property for the proper use of my wife and family also one note on Franklin Grose of eighty two dollars bearing the date 12th of March 1862 and due the 12th of September 1862 likewise seven dollars cash to be appropriated for the proper use of my family my claim in the Buffalo Land to be sold for the best price to be obtained and equally divided among my children.
