Capital Microfilm of Monroe County Will Book 1829-1844 v.3 Page 190-191 (Will) 1844-1849 v.4 page 224 (Estate Appraisement) Page 302-303 (Sale Bill) I Patrick Boyd of the County of Monroe and Commonwelth of Virginia do hereby make my Last Will and Testament in manner and form following to wit. First I will that all of my just debts and funeral expences be ____________ paid. Secondly I leave to my beloved wife Ann Boyd the whole of my Plantation I now live on for and during the term of her natural life. I also give her two horses, three cows, one __________ and all the tackings thereto belonging and all my house hold and kitchen furniture to her and her heirs forever and further I give my said wife four hundred dollars in money for keeping my daughter Nelley and her children as long as the my said wife shall live. Thirdly, I give to my daughter Nelly and her son four hundred dollars to the, and their heirs forever. Fourthly, I give to Ellin Jane Wallace (older daughter of my friend James Wallace) fifty dollars to her and her heirs forever. Fifthly, I give fifty dollars to the Elder, Trustee's & Commisioners of the _______ Congregation (called New Lebanon Church) for the support of the gospel in that congregation. Sixthly, I give to my son Porterfield Boyd Five hundred dollars and all my blacksmith tools to him and his heirs forever. Seventhly, I give to my son in law William Bichett five hundred dollars to him and his heirs forever. Eighthly, I will that after my decease all my personal estate not herin before particularly disposed of be sold for the best price that can be obtained and the proceeds thereof (after satisfying the above legacies) to be equally divided among all my children ___ Robert Boyd, Porterfield Boyd, Jane Hawkins, Esther Foster, Peggy Hill and Nancy Bichett and Nelly Boyd Ninthly, I will that after the decease of my wife all my lands or real estate be sold to the best advantage and the proceeds thereof to be equally divided among all my children as mentioned in the last item. The words all my land or real estate are to be construed so as to comprehend all the lands by me own at my decease whether situated in this states or any where else. Lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friends _________________ and Adam Thomas Executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other or former wills or testaments by me hereto made In witness where of I have hereto foreset my hand and seal this 28th day of January I the year of Christ 1835.
