First - I desire that all the perishable part of my Estate be immediately sold after my deseas (sic) and out of the monies coming therefrom all my just debts and funeral Expenses be paid - Secondly - after the payment of my debts and funeral expenses, I give to my beloved Wife Betsey Rice one third part of my estate real and personal for and during her natural life and aftter death, I gave the same to my childering herein after mentioned. Thirdly - I gave to my son John Rice one dollar to him and his heirs forever I having fully provided for him heretofore. Fourthly - I gave to the remaining part of my childering to wit, James Rice, William Rice, Robert Rice my three sons (and) my Daughter Catherine Foster (and ) likeways the childering of my daughter Sally Sprowle is to have one equil (sic) part with any one of my childering heretofore named to them (and) their heirs forever. Lastly - I do hereby constitute and appoint my friend Joel Riffe Executor of this my last will (and) Testament by me heretofore made. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 24th day of April 1843.
