Will of Jacob Smith, 1866 - Monroe Co. WV I, Jacob Smith of the County of Monroe and State of West Virginia do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made. And first, I direct that my body be decently interred in the neighborhood burying ground, and that my funeral be conducted in a manner corresponding with my estate and situation in life. And ask such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to entrust me with, I dispose of the same as follows. First, I direct that all my debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon after my decease as possible out of the first moneys that shall come into the hands of my executor, from any portion of my estate, real or personal. Also, I direct that a fair valuation or appraisement be made, by three judicious neighbors of all of my personal property. I give and bequeath to my son Jackson Smith all of my real estate and require him to pay each one of my daughters or their heirs (being eight in number) one hundred dollars in money two years after my death. I also direct that all of my bonds, notes to and all of my personal property (after it is appraised, be equally divided among my daughters or their heirs. If any of heirs above mentioned do express any dissatisfaction, or make any complaint of the manner in which I have disposed of my estate, they are not to have anything. I hereby constitute and appoint my Son Jackson Smith my sole Executor, and I do not require him to give security, and have unlimited confidence in his integrity. In witness where of I, Jacob Smith, the testator have to this my will written on one sheet of paper set my hand and seal this 3 day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty six.
