Tobias Cogar - Nicholas Co WV Land Grant was submitted by Regena Cogar on 16 Nov 1999 EMAIL: rlcogar@bellsouth.net ************************************************************************** John Cogar - Nicholas Co VA(WV) Land Grant 1846 John Cogar 41 acres Nicholas County [---] to [---] Hill [---] Mar. 1847 William Smith Esquire, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia: To all to whom these Presents shall come -- GREETING: KNOW YE, That in conformity with a survey made on the twenty third day of January one thousand Eight hundred and twenty nine, by virtue of Land Office Treasury Warrant N.9206[?], there is granted by the said Commonwealth, unto John Cogar, a certain Tract or Parcel of Land, containing forty one acres lying and being in the County of Nicholas, on the Laurel fork of Holly Creek, joining the land of Jacob Conrad, and bounded as follows, viz: Beginning at a Poplar and beech corner to said Conrad. Thence S.49.E.52 poles crossing the Creek, to a beech on said line, and leaving N.10.E.60 poles to a hickory N.33. E.21 poles to a Spanish Oak and Sugar tree N10[?].E.44 poles to a beech in the mouth of a hollow N.8.W.72 poles to a Small Sugar tree in the bottom West 14 poles, crossing the Creek to two Small poplars on the bank S.14.W.155 poles to the beginning with its appurtenances TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said Tract or Parcel of Land, with its appurtenances, to the said John Cogar and his heirs forever.
