Indenture RICHARDSON/BIER Ohio County Deed Book 9, p. 179 This Indenture made this 1st day of Oct in the year of our lord 1817, between John Richardson of the County of Ohio & commonwealth of Virginia of the one part and Philip Bier of the county & state aforesaid of the other part (Witnesseth). That the said John Richardson for & in consideration of the sum of fifty Dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted bargained & sold and by these presents doth grant bargain & sell convey and confirm unto the said Philip Bier his heirs or assigns all the following described tract of land lying & being in the county and state aforesaid (towit) Beginning at a Sugartree corner adjoining Joseph Tomlinson S 20 degs W 80 poles to a post thence S 45 degs E 100 ps to a post thence N 20 degs E 80 poles to a post in the original line thence N 5 degs W 100 poles to the place of beginning--being part of a survey of 1,000 acres of land granted by the commonwealth of Virginia to David Jones, by him conveyed to Morgan Jones who conveyed the same to the sd John Richardson by deed bearing date the 5th day of Dec. A.D. 1813 to have & to hold the above described tract of land containing fifty acres more or less, and premises with the appurtainances to the sd Philip Bier his heirs & assigns to the only proper use of him and sd Philip his heirs & assigns forever and the sd John Richardson for himself his heirs & doth hereby covenant and agree to and with the said Philip Bier his heirs & that he the sd John Richardson, the above described tract of land & premises, to the said Philip his heirs & shall and will warrant & forever defend against all persons & claims whatsoever--In testimoney whereof the aforesaid John Richardson hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day & year first above written-- John Richardson I do hereby that the above is a true copy from the original which was acknowledged in my office the 23d of March 1818--by the said John Richardson who desired the same to be recorded.
