I John Atkinson of Ohio County and state of Virginia being weakly in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory thanks to Almighty God do make and ordain this my last will and testament. That is to say, principally and first of all I recommend my soul into the hand of Almighty God that give it and my body to the dust to be buried in a decent Christian manner at the discretion of my executors herein after to be mentioned and as touching such estate herewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give and dispose of the same in the manner and form following, Viz I give and allow unto my Eldest son James and my son George, their heirs and assigns forever all the land that I possess on the north east side of the run that empties into the river at the upper end of the field on the river bottom beginning at the mouth of said run and following the course thereof until it strikes the point of the small ridge above the falls in said run where it forks thence following said ridge until it strikes the field thence to continue until it strikes the lands of Joseph Wilson Senr. so as to take two acres of said field the division of the cleared land is to begin at the lower end of the fields near to the house formerly occupied by my son James running so as to include the spring on the side formerly occupied by my son James which division is to continue until it strikes the line with Daniel Harris so as to make an equal divide of said clear land the south west side I allow to my said son George the other side to my son James being that part whereon he formerly lived the wood land part of said parcel of land they are to divide as they shall deem proper themselves, likewise I allow my said son James to pay until my grand son John Atkinson son of John Atkinson decd the sum of fifty dollars out of his share to be paid one year after my decease likewise I allow my son George to pay the sum of fifty dollars out of his share one year after my decease to be appropriated to the purchase of one quarter section of land for my grand sons James and Robert as shall hereafter be mentioned. Also I give and allow to my son David all the residue of my land including the house wherein I now live to him his heirs and assigns forever, also I allow my said son David to purchase one quarter section of land for my grandsons James and Robert, sons of Robert Atkinson decd. Said land to be purchased one year after Robert is of age the fifty dollars which my son George is to pay is to be applied in the payment of said land as already mentioned. Also I give and allow to my grandson Robert my young gray horse colt likewise one feather bed and bedsted which I allow him in full with that already given him. Also I give and allow to my grand daughter Sarah who lives with my young bay mare also a saddle and bridle also one small bake oven and two pots and one iron tea kettle and one pot rack likewise the residue of my beds and bedding exclusive of what is allowed to Robert. Also I allow all my stock of cattle horses and hogs exclusive of what has already been disposed of together with all my small grain in the stack and in the ground with my implements of farming and all other property not already mentioned to be sold and the amount thereof to be divided equally between my daughters Sarah Hannah and Rebeckah which I allow them in full. And I hereby constitute and appoint my sons James and David together my John Snodgrass executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and disanuling all formerly wills by me made or done in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty one and second day of May.
