Reciept 16 Dec 1841 John Rutherford, Esq.Lieut, Acting as Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia: To all to whom these presents shall come Greetings: Know YE, That in conformity with a survey made on the 26th day of May, 1840 by Virtue of Land Office Treasury Warrants No.14296 & 7351 there is granted by the said Commonwealth, unto Amos Tharp a certain Parcel or Tract of Land containing two hundred acres, situate in Pendleton County, on the east side of the Bullpasture Mountain, adjoining lands of John Sitlington, George Erwin & his own, bounded as follows~ Beginning at two hickories & white walnut on a hill side, near the old road, Sitlingtons corner, thence N7E20 poles to a hickory & dogwood sappling on a rocky point S55E54 poles to a pine on a hill side opposite Erwins spring S80W14 poles to a maple by the said road, by Erwins corner, thence with Erwins line S3E74 poles to three white oaks, said Erwins corner S27W120 poles to a large white oak, said Erwins corner N46W16 poles to two pines, his own former corner S50W104 poles to two pines his corner, N47E66 poles to two black oaks, corner of same, N21W26 poles to two white oaks, corner of same, N40E108 poles to a chestnut & white oak, Erwins & Sitlingtons corner & with a line of the said N60E108 poles to the beginning. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said Tract or Parcel of Land, with its appurtenances, to the said Amos Tharp and his heirs forever. In witness whereof the said, John Rutherford, Esq.,Lieut.
