May 25, 1825 James Pleasants, Esq., Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia: To all to whom these presents shall come Greetings: Know YE, That in conformity with a survey made on the nineteenth day of May, 1819 by Virtue of Land Office Treasury Warrants No.6050 issued October 20th 1817 there is granted by the said Commonwealth, unto Amos Tharp a certain Parcel or Tract of Land containing forty seven acres, situate in the County of Pendleton, on the Cowpasture River and Shaws Fork and bounded as followith to wit; Beginning at a hickory and sugar tree at the foot of a hill, Johns corner, thence S34W26 poles crossing Shaws Fork to two pines on the bank S60W48 poles to two white oaks former corner N40W16 poles to a pine and white oak on the county line, Thence leaving said line N30E15 poles to a pine N10W138 poles, crossing Shaws Fork and the Cowpasture, Thence with Stewarts line to two white oaks on said line, Thence leaving his line east (?) 36 poles to two white oaks S60E20 poles to a white oak and thence S13E105 poles to the beginning. TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said Tract or Parcel of Land, with its appurtenances, to the said Amos Tharp and his heirs forever. In witness whereof the said, James Pleasants, Esq., Governor ofthe Commonwealth of Virginia, hath hereunto set his hand and caused the Lesser Seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed, at Richmond, on the twenty forth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty five, and of the Commonwealth, the forty ninth.
