S. REYNOLDS R. S. Reynolds, a well-to-do farmer of Pleasants county, was born July 24, 1852, in the house where he now resides. His parents were Daniel and Sarah (Larue) Reynolds, the former of whom was born in Washington county, Ohio, in 1801. He was a son of Noah Reynolds, a native of England, who came to America in the seventeeth century, and settled in what is now Washington county, Ohio, but then a wilderness. He located on what is called Ray's run. During the war of 1812 he served as a soldier, and after the war spent the remainder of his life in Ohio. The father of our subject was reared on the old farm in Ohio, came to West Virginia, about 1830, and settled on Middle Island creek, where he remained about three years. He then moved to where our subject now resides on Middle Island, where he bought fifty-two acres of fine land which, however, was then covered with woods. He spent his life on this island, where he remained until his death, which occurred April 3, 1887. Here our subject was reared, receiving a limited education as he grew up to manhood. In 1876, he married Priscilla, daughter of Jacob and Margaret Delong, and the union resulted in the birth of six children, of whom the following named are living: Oakey, Ida, Bernard, Lena and Harry. The mother, who is a native of Ohio, is a member of the Baptist church. Mr. Reynolds is now owner of forty acres of the old homestead place, and has it in good condition He is a substantial and well respected citizen.
