Johnson VA Medical Center at Clarksburg following an extended illness. He was a disabled American veteran and had been decorated with a Purple Heart. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army and also a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was born July 28, 1920, in Glenville, a son of the late Benjamin Eakle and Plessie Rowe Eakle Abrogast. In addition to his wife, Reva M. Lamp Eakle, whom he married Dec. 26, 1941, surviving are one daughter, Pamela Eakle Wahlberg, Deerfield Beach, FL; one granddaughter, Dina Wahlberg, Pompano Beach, FL; one brother, Gerald Eakle, Clarksburg; four nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Denver M. Eakle. Eckart of Belmont, died suddenly Wednesday evening in the St. Joseph Hospital in Parkersburg. She had been admitted to the hospital several days prior to her death and was to have undergone surgery. Mrs. Eckart was born in Washington County, Ohio, March 29, 1888, a daughter of the late Walter and Anna Harlan Riggs. She leaves her husband, two daughters, Miss Mary Louise Eckart of St. Marys, Miss Jeanne Eckart of Belmont; two sons, Charles Clarence Eckart of Marietta, Franklin Eckart of Belmont (unreadable) and three grandchildren. He was born March 15, 1939, to Denzil and Leah Hanlin Eddy of Rt. 1, Friendly, who survive. He was a member of the Dewey Avenue Church of Christ, a US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam conflict, was a member of Millwrights Local 1755, and had served as a volunteer at Camden-Clark Hospital. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Tellep Eddy, and one daughter, Barbara Ann, at home. The late Miss Engle was born in Meigs county, Ohio, in 1869 and hence was only twenty-eight years of age. She died last night about midnight, at her home on Quincy street, after a lingering illness. She was a young lady of beautiful Christian character and a lovable disposition that won her many friends. She was a faithful and devoted member of the M.E. He moved to the Reno-Cornerville area as a child and moved to Marietta a year ago. He was a 1926 graduate of Sand Hill High School. He had been a meat cutter and later worked at Uncle Bob's Food King. He also had been employed by Broughton's Dairy and the Washington County Farm Bureau Co-op in addition to the county home. He was a life-long member of the Cornerville Congregational Church and was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 1823.
