He is survived by his wife, Joyce Kocher Taberner; two sons, Jeff Taberner at home and Bartley Taberner of Huntington; three daughters, Terri Ward of Williamstown, Jackie Davis of Tampa, Fla., and Debbie Moellendick of Sistersville; three granddaughters; a grandson; a brother, Edward Monroe of New Jersey; and two sisters, Mary Jean Wilson of Warren, Mich., and Grace Baldree of Madison, Tenn. He is survived by one sister, Tammy Lester of St. Marys; his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Chips of St. Marys; his stepfather Evertt Simpkins of St. Marys; paternal grandparents, Estell and Cora Tackett of Cambridge; two aunts and an uncle. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, was employed in the oil fields, and had been a mechanic at Colin Anderson Center. He was born in Harrison County, May 20, 1911, a son of the late James M. and Ruth Emaline Robey Taylor. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Tate Taylor, whom he married on Sept. 27, 1941; one daughter, Mrs. William C. (Beverly) Stout, St. Marys; one grandson, Ryan Charles Stout. Other surviving relatives include, Mre. Kenneth (Elizabeth) Summers, Lake Floyd, John Crislip, Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Gladys Fuller, Coolville, O., and Mrs. Opal Smith, Fairmont He was a member of the Barnes Memorial Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon, trustee, Sunday School Superintendent and church school teacher. He was a veteran of World War II and served with the 99th Division in Europe. He retired in 1973 from Fourco Glass with 32 years service. Taylor Sr. He was a World War II Navy veteran, retired after 40 years with the C&P Telephone Co., attended the First Baptist Church in Parkersburg, and at time of his death was president of the local chapter of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was born Sept 27, 1908 at Dana's Run, Washington County, to Bruce Wellington and Della Taylor. He had lived on Taylor's Run for most of his life, except for four years when he had lived at Barberton. He had been an oil field worker and was later employed at Marietta Metal Products Co. for 23 years until his retirement. He married Lacta FAy Edwards on Feb. 20, 1928. She died May 19, 1992. He also was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and three sisters. Mr. Taylor is survived by one daughter, Betty Taylor, at home; one brother, Homer Taylor of Barberton; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Stewart Taylor, and a sister, Lorine Middaugh of St. Marys. He was preceded in death by a sister. Lanham, they were laid to rest in the St. Marys Cemetery. Her husband, Martin Taylor was killed in an oil well accident on French Creek in 1918. Burial was in the St. Marys IOOF Cemetery. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Name and Date of Newspaper Unkown Mrs. Rosanna Taylor Died December 5 1919 Mrs. Rosamma Taylor was born October 15, 1825, at Middlebourne, Tyler County, Virginia, now West Virginia; died at Parkersburg, West Virginia, December 5, 1919. She was the daughter of Daniel and Mary Ruttencutter, who came to this country in the early part of the last century and located at Middlebourne. They moved from there to near St. Marys, West Virginia. Mrs. Taylor was married to Mr. John F. Taylor, February 6, 1844, and to this happy union there were eleven children born, of whom nine are living, namely; Z. T. Taylor, Charleston; J.W., F.M., and T. J. Taylor, and Mrs. Phoebe Knight, St. Marys; Mrs. H. R. Flesher, Williamstown; Mrs. Margaret Bailey and Miss Allie Taylor, Parkersburg; and Mrs. Ella Washburn, Akron, O. One brother, Abraham Ruttencutter, of St. Marys is still living. There are also, twenty-eight grandchildren, and forty-eight great-grandchildren. Her husband died about twenty-six years before. Mrs. Taylor was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church at the age of 15 years, being a very devoted and consecrated member of the church all her life. She was a constant reader of her Bible and the Christian Advocate. She was esteemed and loved by her family and her friends for her loving disposition and gracious character, as well as her most loyal and devoted interest in the Church and its welfare. Her home was the home of the Methodist Preacher for years near Grape Island in Pleasants County, she being a member of the old Bethesda Church at that place. She has left a valuable legacy to her family in the sweetness of her life, which will be a precious inheritance to all. She was gentle of spirit, kind to all, and always interested in the greatest good to the greatest number. She was devoted intensely to her Christ, and a woman of remarkable domestic sweetness. She loved her home, her children, and was so kind and helpful to them all. Indeed she was a true mother and friend of everybody who came in her presence. She was buried in the IOOF Cemetery at Parkersburg, after services conducted by her pastor at the residence, Rev. James E. Scott, Ph.D. of the St. Andrews M.E. Church, of which she was a member at the time of her death. Taylor Died May 31 1989 Virgel Frederick Taylor, 70, of Charles Street, Newport, died at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Arbors in Marietta following an extended illness. He was born Dec. 9, 1918, in New Matamoras, a son of Agnus Miller Taylor, who is a resident of Heartland, Marietta, and the late Edward E. Taylor. a graduate of Newport High School, class of 1937, he was a welder with the Quaker State Oil refinery in St, Marys, retiring in 1985 after 35 years of employment. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marietta. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion Post No. 64, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5108. the Disabled American Veterans and Local 3-590, Oil, Chemical, and Atomic Workers in St. Marys. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Lorraine E. Duenke Taylor, who he married Oct. 3, 1942; two daughters, Sandra Taylor at home and Barbara Ann Himmeger of Newport; and two grandchildren, Ben and Brenda Himmeger. He worked in the oil fields and for American Petrofina until his retirement in 1978. Aug. 1925 Mrs. Hazel Carroll Thorn, 38, died yesterday morning at 4:30 O'clock at St. Joseph Hospital after a sudden illness of acute uremic poisoning. Her sudden death came as a great shock to her many friends about the city. Tuesday evening Mrs. Thorn assisted in serving a dinner to the members of the City Park Baseball League of the Good Shepherd church. She complained then of numbness in her hands and arms, and became ill and was removed to her home, 2105 Park avenue. Mrs. Thorn lapsed into unconsciousness and died before the comial lifted. The deceased was born in St. Marys, W. Va. and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Carroll. She was married 17 years ago to Tilden Thorn. She attended Parkersburg Community College and then transferred to Marietta College where she received a bachelor's degree in sports medicine. She graduated from Ohio University in 1993 with a degree in sports exercise. She was a work hardening assistant at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg and was also affiliated with the business health care department and spoke to various organizations and school groups. She was a first aid and CPR instructor for the Parkersburg chapter of the American Red Cross and was recently honored for five years as an instructor. She was selected a finalist in the Young Careerist program sponsored by the BPW and taught aerobic and aquatic therapy. She was aa member and instructor of the Arthritis Foundation and a board member of the Wood County Chapter of the American Heart Association. She was a member and secretary of the Pleasants Pacers running club, an officer in the Washington County chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the Washington County Historical Society, the Wood County Unit of the American Cancer Society and Valley View Baptist Church. Triplett Died Nov. 19 1982 Funeral services were held Monday at Ruttencutter Funeral Home for Harry C. Triplett, 90, St. Marys businessman and community leader. Triplett died Friday morning in Corpus Christi, Texas. A native of Pleasants County, he founded with his father Triplett Family Hardware in 1913, retiring from the business in 1961. Through the years he was instrumental in civic improvements, including the establishment of an Athletic Board which installed the first stadium lights in West Virginia at the local high school in 1936-37. He was also a member of the group which acquired the land for the St. Marys Golf Course and started the facility. Another community development in which he was a part was the Kiwanis Park, forerunner of Pleasants County Park. Triplett was a member of the St. Marys Lodge No. 41, AF & AM. He was a member of the St. Marys Kiwanis Club. He is survived by one son, Dr. William C. After attending elementary and high school in St. Marys, she married H. Glen Triplett in 1918. She belonged to the St. Marys Presbyterian Church, the garden club and the Parkersburg Country Club. Triplett Died Aug. 29 1989 Robert Henry Triplett, 60, of 230 Third St., Hickory, N.C., died Tuesday in Baylor Hospita, Dallas, Texas, following an extended illness. He was born in Sistersville, a son of the late Ralph Harrison and Garnet Sarber Triplett. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, and was a vice president of Alexvale Furniture Co. He was a former vice president of First National Bank of Catawaba County, N.C., and served as a faculty member of the North Calolina School of Banking, Chapet Hill, and was a former member of the North Carolina Bankers Association. He served as vice presidnet of the Hickory Community Arts Council. He was a former executive director of the Catawba Valley Executive Club, a board member of the Human Resources Divison, American Furniture Manufacturing Association and chairman of the Employer Advisory Committee for the N.C. Employment Security Commission in Alexander County. He is survived by his wife, Carole Evans Triplett; two sons, Mark Triplett and Robert Triplet of Hickory.
