She was born March 21, 1904, in Columbus to the late William and Drucilla BRADLEY TOBROCKE. She spent most of her life in the Cincinnati area and had attended Ohio University and the University of Miami. She had taught in the public schools in Niles, O., and later taught in the Marietta area schools. She was an artist. She attended the Unitarian Universalist Church in Marietta and was a member of the Washington County Retired Teachers Association. She is survived by one daughter, Ruth V. THORNILEY, with whom she made her home; and several nieces and nephews. On May 13, 1933, she married David F. VALENTINE, who died in 1986. She was born in Harrisville, daughter of the late Dr. Todd W. and Della HALDERMAN KEITH. She graduated from Harrisville High School in 1937 and from West Virginia University in 1941, summa cum laude, with a B.M. degree in music. While at WVU. She was president of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority; a member of the Li-Toon-Cwa Women's Honorary and was listed in "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities." She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Harrisville Chapter 29. She was employed as a teacher in both Pleasants and Wood Counties, where she taught music for 35 years until her retirement in 1983. She also served as the choir director at the First Lutheran Church in Parkersburg for nearly 30 years. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, George; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Denise VAV VALEY of Gainesville, Fla.; one daughter Debra FULLER of Parkersburg; one sister, Lois KEITH WADE of Fairmont, and four grandchildren. He was born in St. Marys, a son of the late C.L. and Gaynelle E. VAN VALEY. He was a graduate of St. Marys High School. He worked at the Quaker State Oil Refinery in St. Marys upon graduation, until he enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II. At the end of the war, he attended, and graduated from Marietta College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He worked as Office Manager of Quaker State Oil Co. in Parkersburg and later in Belpre until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of St. Marys Blue Lodge, Nemisis Temple, Royal Order of Jesters, Emeritis member BPO Elks and American Legion, all of Parkersburg. He was a member of First Lutheran Church of Parkersburg. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Denise VAN VALEY of Gainesville, Fla.; one daughter, Debra VAN VALEY of Parkersburg; one brother, C.L.
