E. ZARTMAN Karl E. ZARTMAN, 94, of Worthington, Ohio, died Friday. He was born in Monmouth, Ill., to Emanuel C. and Minnie Mae ROBINSON ZARTMAN. They moved to Tiffin, O., and Karl graduated from Columbian High School in 1912 and Heidelberg College in 1919. He taught chemistry and physics in Bluffton, Ohio. For 35 years he was employed by the Ohio State Unemployment Insurance as an handicapped counselor for children. He was the last surviving member of six children. He married Marie Edith WACK in 1921. He is survived by K. William ZARTMAN Sr. of Newport Township, and Kathryn Ann ZARTMAN SOMMERLATTE of Redington Shores, Fla. He had five grandchildren, and nine great- grandchildren. He was a veteran of World War I, having served in the Ambulance Corps of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Humboldt Lodge 476 of Columbus, Scottish Right Valley of Columbus and Aladdin Shrine. Graveside services will be in Mainland Cemetery in Mainland, Pennsylvania. Memorials may be made to the Frontiers Lions Club or the Shrine Burn Hospital through the Marietta Shrine Club. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- "Oracle" Oct. 30, 1975 HANS ZIELKE Died: Oct. 24, 1975 Hans ZIELKE, 59, Norwood, Pa., died Friday at his home. His wife, the former Winona EDGAR of Newport, O., survives with a son, Richard, of the home. Services were held Tuesday in McCausland Funeral Home, Glenoldon, Pa., with burial in Glenoldon. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- "Leader" Sept. ??, 1??9 RALPH CLARK ZINSER Died: Sept. 05, 1989 Ralph Clark ZINSER, 76, of 607 Ninth St., Marietta, died Tuesday at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born in Grafton, a son of the elate (sp? late) Ralph Arthur and Ethel HOFFMAN ZINSER. He attended school in Peoria and Chillicothe, Ill. He was a stationary engineer and had been employed by the Dravo Corp. as a journeyman pipefitter until his retirement. He had also been employed by the Dravo Corp. in Wilmington N.C., where he moved from Williamstown. He lived in St Clairsville, O., from 1982- 1987, when he returned to Marietta. He was a member of the Huntington National Guard and the Christ United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, Local 168, American AF&AM, Marietta Commandry No. 50, Knights of Templer, the Washington County Scottish Rites Society, Valley of Cambridge, American Union Chapter No. 1, RAM, Marietta Council, No. 78, R&FM, and Marietta Chapter No. 59, Order of the Eastern Star. He is survived by his wife, Avildia C. KING, whom he wed Jan.20, 1934; two sons, Ralph E. ZINSER of St. Clairsville, O. and Nelson Keith ZINSER of Newport; three daughters, Delores M. LOUGH of Fairmont, Mary WALKER and Ethel LOCHARY, both of St. Clairsville 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Martha CRAMER of Williamstown. He was preceded in death by one son, Herbert L. ZINSER; two sisters, Ernestine HARDEN and Virginia PEBICK; and an infant brother. The funeral was 2:30 p.m. Friday at Christ United Methodist Church with the Rev. Karl KUMPF and the Rev. Harry Nye CRAMER officiating. Burial was in East Lawn Memorial Park. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- "Leader" Oct. 29, 1983 CREOLA J. ZUCCHELLI Died: Oct. 25, 1983 Creola J. ZUCCHELLI, 63, of 212 Rathbone Rd., Marietta, died Tuesday at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg. She was born July 28, 1920, at Sistersville to Charles and ANNA EARLY HENTHORNE. She was a graduate of Sistersville High School and had formerly been employed at American Cyanamid at Willow Island. She was a member of the Baptist Church. On May 22, 1954, she married Elmo ZUCCHELLI, who died Feb. 21, 1983. The had lived in Marietta since 1954. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Charles PLACKE, Sr. of Grand Prairie, Texas; one nephew and one niece. Services were held Friday in the McClure-Schafer Funeral Home with the Rev. Harley E. BAILEY officiating. Burial was in East Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Washington County Unit of the American Cancer Society, 617 Second St., Marietta, or to the American Lung Association. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- "Leader" Feb. 26, 1983 ELMO ZUCCHELLI Died: Feb. 21, 1983 Elmo ZUCCHELLI, 65, of Marietta, died Monday morning at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born in New York City, a son of the late Mario and Angelina CAPPELLO ZUCCHELLI. He was a graduate of New York University with a degree in bacteriology and received a masters degree in physics and mathematics from NYU. He took graduate training in computer technology and programming from West Virginia University and in the field of business science and electricity. He had been with American Cyanamid since he was 16-years-of-age and since 1951 was head of the microbiology laboratory at American Cyanamid, willow Island. In 1969 he was sent to Australia to assist in the microbiology program of the Melbourne plant of American Cyanamid. He had been a resource person in the training program of the company in his field. He served two years in the Navy and Marine Corps in the South Pacific in the Medical Corps. He was a member of the Baptist Church and was past commander of the American Legion Post at Park Ridge. Surviving, are his wife, Creola Jean HAWTHORNE ZUCCHELLI, and several distant cousins. Services were held Thursday, in the McClure-Schafer Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald SCHULER officiating. Burial was in East Lawn Memorial Park with full military rites at the the grave. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- "Oracle" Wed., Oct. 07, 1992 ZELMA ZUCKER Died: Sept. 26, 1992 Zelma SCHOOLCRAFT ZUCKER, 85, of Cleveland, died Sept. 26, at the Aurora Nursing Home in Beechwood, O. She was born in Woodsfield, a daughter of the late Floyd M. and Letha O. NORRIS SCHOOLCRAFT. She was an avid gardener and had raised gardening to such a fine art that florists would visit her home to cut unusual flowers for arrangements. She rose daily at dawn and would often spend the day tending her one-acre plantings. Her gardening interests led her to teach horticulture classes at Bush High School in Cleveland. In the winter, she mad gold, silver and copper enameled jewelry and participated in the Bedford Arts League. She organized fund-raising efforts for the Red Feather Agency, the forerunner of the United Way. She also was a member of the Cleveland Chapter of the Speakers Club. Surviving are her husband, Rudolph ZUCKER; one daughter, Lois BOWDICH of New Middletown, O.; two grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; three brothers, Charles SCHOOLCRAFT of Parkersburg; Floyd "Bud" SCHOOLCRAFT of Sykesville, Md. And Paul SCHOOLCRAFT of Marietta; four sisters, Virginia SMITH of Urbana, O., Loretta CUTLIP of Parkersburg, Betty WINCE and Donna HANNAN of St. Marys; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers and sisters. Services were held Sept. 27 at Berkowitz-Kumin-Bookatz Funeral Home, Cleveland. Dec. 07, 1993 RHONDA DENISE ZERKLE Died: Dec. 04, 1993 Rhonda Denise RACY ZERKLE, 40, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, died Saturday, at Cabell-Huntington Hospital. Mrs. ZERKLE graduated in 1971 from Parkersburg South High School. She had a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, Art and Journalism from West Virginia University. She was an art teacher at Portsmouth Elementary and Middle Schools for 16 years. She is a member of the Wheelersburg United Methodist Church, the Worship Committee, and the Missions Committee. She was a member of the national Education Association, member of the Lupus Support Group in Portsmouth, and former art department chairman of the Portsmouth School system. She was born in Parkersburg, a daughter of Clell Adam and Mary Louise RIGGS RACY of Parkersburg. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Lynn ZERKLE; one daughter, Anna Catherine ZERKLE at home; one brother, Darryl Wayne RACY of Little Hocking; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the Wheelersburg United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Brad MARTIN officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. April. 26, 1994 LETHA MAE ZINN Died: Apr. 25, 1994 Letha Mae ZINN, 86, of route 39, of St. Marys, died Monday at Parkview Healthcare Center, Parkersburg. Mrs. ZINN was a retired school teacher, having taught in both Pleasants and Ritchie Counties. She was a 50-year member and past worthy matron of Pennsboro Chapter 26 Order of the Eastern Star, and was a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Parkersburg, Bethany Chapter No. 4 and St. Marys United Methodist Church. She was born in Ritchie County, a daughter of the late M. B. and Anna Belle DOTSON NU?ER (NUMER?). She is survived by one daughter, Rose Anna RIGGS of St. Marys; two grandsons, John RIGGS and Sam RIGGS, both of St. Marys; one granddaughter, Amy MORGAN of Columbus; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles S. ZINN, in 1978; one son, Gene Allan ZINN; three sisters; and five brothers. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, ay Ruttencutter Funeral Home, St. Marys, with the Rev. Darrel L. GOODEN officiating. ZIPF, 93, of St. Marys, died Nov.19 at CareHaven of Pleasants in Belmont. She was born May 07, 1903, at Vincent, O., to the late C.C. and Carrie HAYES HOPKINS. She graduated from high school in Roundup, Mont., and was treasurer of the former ZIPF Hardware Co. in St. Marys. She was a member of St. Marys United Methodist Church where she was very active in her earlier years. She was a member of Chapter 31 of the Order of Eastern Star in St. Marys, the American Legion Auxiliary and was associated with the Pleasants County Library. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, George E. and Mary Jo ZIPF of Tempe, Ariz.; five grandchildren, G. Allan ZIPF of St. Marys, Katherine Ann DENNISON and Susan Louise ZIPF, both of Chandler, Ariz., Mark BRADFIELD of Beckley and Lynn R. BRADFIELD of Reston, Va.; and two great-grandsons, John W. DENNISON and Michael G. DENNISON, both of Chandler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford E. ZIPF, in 1960; a son-in-law and daughter, Harry Gene and Hazel Ann ZIPF BRADFIELD; and one sister, Hazel HOPKINS. Graveside services were Friday at St. Marys IOOF Cemetery with the Rev. Darrel L. Feb. 15, 1990 IVA HIGGINS ZUCKETT Iva HIGGINS ZUCKETT, 88, of Boca Raton, Fla., died Feb. 07 in Boca Raton. She was born in St. Marys, daughter of the late Albert and Ella Louise SHINGLETON ZUCKETT. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Lou CAMERON of Fort Myers, Fla., and Anne ALEXANDER of Boca Raton, Fla..; two sons, Richard ZUCKETT of Austontown, Ohio, and Sheldon BOWDEN of Mentor, Ohio; and several grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles BOWDEN; her second husband, Carmen ZUCKETT; two sons, Paul and Raymond BOWDEN, three brothers; and two sisters. The body cremated.
